The Fishing Rules

FISHCARE REGULATIONS

For the protection of our fish and the safety of all anglers.

GENERAL RULES

  • All rules are established to ensure the safety of both our fish and anglers.
  • Please read and respect these regulations at all times.
  • Failure to comply will result in immediate removal from the lake without refund.

FISH HANDLING

  • All fish over 20 kg must be handled and photographed in the water.
  • To prevent the transfer of disease, it is strictly forbidden to bring your own landing net, weigh sling, or cradle.
These items are provided at the lake and must be used at all times.
  • Only the equipment provided at your swim (available at the net station) may be used.

FISH CARE

  • Always keep a bucket of fresh water within reach when handling fish.
  • In warmer months, cool the sling and cradle with fresh water before use.
  • The fish must be kept wet at all times.
  • The carp may only be out of the water for a very short time – ensure your camera and equipment are prepared before lifting the fish.
  • The recovery sling may only be used for preparing the fish for photographs.
  • Carp sacks or retaining carp in recovery slings are NOT allowed.
  • Propolis is available at each swim and must be used to treat all hook holds or injuries.
  • In the event of a serious wound or damage, contact the fishery manager immediately.

BAITS AND FEEDING

  • Shelf-life boilies are allowed, but they must be of good quality.
High-quality bait will always outperform cheap, poor-quality bait.
  • Particles are allowed in sensible quantities. They must be properly soaked and cooked until they can be crushed between your fingers.
  • The use of tiger nuts is strictly forbidden, whether whole or crushed. They may only be used as a hook bait.
  • Maggots can only be used from the 1st of november till the 1st of march.

TACKLE AND RIGS

  • Only barbless or micro-barbed hooks are allowed.
  • Minimum mainline diameter: 0.38 mm.
  • A snag leader with a minimum diameter of 0.60 mm must be used at all times.
(The lake contains many mussels; thinner lines may cause cut-offs.)
  • A fish-safe system is mandatory — the carp must always be able to release the lead or stone weight.
    We recommend
helicopter rigs or running rig systems such as those from Evolve Tackle.
  • Braided mainlines or leaders are not allowed.
  • H-markers are not allowed — only pole markers may be used.

FISHING RULES

  • Maximum of three rods per angler.
If two anglers share a swim and one is away, the remaining angler may use a
    fourth rod.
  • Never leave rods unattended.
  • Bait boats are allowed but must be used responsibly.
  • Inflatable boats are tolerated only to free a snagged fish — fishing from an inflatable boat is prohibited.
  • Always fish straight in front of your swim and within casting range.

BEHAVIOUR AND ENVIRONMENT

  • Keep your swim clean and tidy at all times.
  • Use the bin holders provided in each swim.
  • Do not dig, cut, or alter anything in your swim.
  • Open fires are not permitted.
Barbecues may be used with caution.
  • Only green or camouflage-colored bivvies and sun canopies are allowed.
  • Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash at all times.
    Please clean up after them.
  • Cars must be parked in the designated parking areas.
You may drive to your swim to unload your gear upon arrival, then immediately move your car to the car park.
  • All rubbish and waste must be taken with you when leaving the lake.

LIABILITY

The operator and owner of The Glory Hole – Carpfishing shall not be held liable for any external circumstances, bad weather, theft, or accidents occurring on the lake premises.

The reason why!

In the rules you have seen the mention that you are not allowed to bring a Landing-net, Recovery Sling or Carpcradle unhookingmat.

The reason is simple we want to keep our carp safe and therefore we ban the use of this equipment as they can be infected by diseases which can kill our carp. In each swim you will find our own equipment which is from good and well known brands.

On arrival please check if everything is on the Carp Safe station on the back of your swim.

On departure the bailiff will check the equipment if everything is there and also if it is in working order, when equipment is broken we will charge to replace the broken items

The reason why!

As you can see on the photo there is loads and loads of mussels in the lake not only are they a very good foodsource for the carp, they are also razor sharp.

Therefore we  only allowe a nylon mainline of  minimum 0.38mm otherwise you will be cut-off on the take.

Furthermore you have to use a Nylon snag-leader of minimum 0.60mm and a minimum length of 15 meters.

Please make sure you fish with a safe system where the carp can loose the lead and the leader in case you have a line breakage

Braided Leaders are strictly forbidden

Braided Mainline is strictly forbidden.
